Tamara Williams will lead African Diaspora dance classes on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm.

Master Teacher, Rosangela Silvestre, willl be a guest to our community classes as she continues to be a mentor for our organization.
EDUCATION
Cultural traditions of the African Diaspora; Music, Dance, History and Culinary Arts brings African Diaspora traditional dances, percussion, performance, history and traditional culinary staples to participants and audiences. During the classes, participants will study and practice dance and rhythms of African American Ring Shout, Samba roots, African-Brazilian Orixá dance and music, Palo Mayombe, Samba Afro and Samba Reggae. The dance portion will be taught with live percussion accompaniment. For this programming, appropriate attire (skirts) for the dances will be provided as well as surdu drums, congas, shekere, atabaque and other percussion instruments for the participants.
PAST CLASSES
Our Bloco Afro Ayedun has received a Culture Blocks Grant from the Arts & Science Council and will have our upcoming programing at the Camino Community Center from April-June 2022. Programming will include African-Brazilian Dance, Silvestre Dance Technique and live drumming. Program hours and dates are as follows.

AFRICAN-BRAZILIAN DANCE & SILVESTRE TECHNIQUE
Camino Community Center
Brazilian Dance (Silvestre Technique & Dances of the Orixá) brings community dance performance to participants. The program will occur at the Camino Community Center. The dance workshops will be facilitated by Tamara Williams with guest artist and Master Teacher, Rosangela Silvestre of Bahia, Brazil. During the workshops, participants will study and practice Silvestre Dance Technique, African-Brazilian Orixá dance, Samba Afro and samba of the Caboclos (Indigenous peoples) dances and songs.

A Dança Brasileira (Técnica Silvestre & Danças do Orixá) traz performance de dança comunitária aos participantes. A programação acontecerá no Centro Comunitário Camino. As oficinas de dança serão facilitadas por Tamara Williams com a artista convidada e professora mestre Rosangela Silvestre da Bahia, Brasil. Durante as oficinas, os participantes estudarão e praticarão a Técnica de Dança Silvestre, dança do Orixá Afro-Brasileiro, Samba Afro e samba dos Caboclos (povos indígenas) danças e canções.
